Google is launching a new feature called agentic video understanding for its Gemini models (3.7 Flash, 3.6 Flash, and 3.5 Flash-Lite).
Instead of analyzing video at a fixed frame rate, the AI actively examines only the parts of the video relevant to the task by dynamically selecting between frames, audio, and transcripts. This reduces token consumption (computational cost) by up to 88 percent, lowers costs by up to 66 percent, and improves accuracy by up to 7 percent. The feature is particularly effective for long-form video and enables new capabilities such as detecting split-second changes, detecting anomalies, and counting objects in video.
Our new agentic feature for video analysis cuts token consumption by up to 88%, reduces costs by up to 66%, and boosts quality by up to 7%.
