Suchet Bargoti opens with a live demo instead of slides. From a laptop on conference Wi-Fi, he launches a docked drone over San Mateo, starts a second one on a power line in Colorado, has one autonomously track a car, and then sends the whole fleet back to dock. Skydio, the largest US drone manufacturer, now has thousands of these docks deployed with utilities, police and construction companies, and about 16 million people live within two miles of one. Bargoti, Skydio's Director of Inspection and Mapping, explains the shift to "drones as infrastructure." He shows a drone spotting a utility pole burning from the inside, and SFPD following a stolen car without a high-speed chase. He then breaks down the autonomy stack. It splits intelligence between the edge and the cloud, uses maps as world models that the fleet keeps up to date, tracks objects through occlusion, and lets a VLM agent find and follow a "white Jeep" using tool calls instead of hand-coded rules. He also covers where fully end-to-end learning still falls short of the reliability physical systems need.

PoddEye on AI
The AI systems guiding Ukrainian combat drones aren't running on expensive Nvidia chips. They're running on a Raspberry Pi Zero - a $15 hobby computer - and that single detail tells you more about how Ukraine's drone war is actually being fought than any headline about AI weapons. Craig Smith sits down with Alex Liannoy, CTO of NORDA Dynamics, for a technically specific and operationally candid conversation about what autonomous drone guidance looks like from inside the team building it. NORDA builds the avionics and targeting modules that plug into drones made by approximately 40 of Ukraine's hundreds of manufacturers, solving the two problems that make drone warfare hard at range: GPS denial from jamming, and the radio horizon that causes pilots to lose contact with their drone in the final 300 to 400 meters before ground level. NORDA's terminal guidance module takes over at up to one kilometer from the target, completing the approach autonomously while a human pilot's earlier lock defines the destination. The most counterintuitive finding in the episode is about what keeps humans in the loop, and it isn't ethics.

A generalist robot that succeeds 80 to 90% of the time makes a great video but a poor product. Jason Ma, co-founder and CTO of Dyna Robotics, shows how Dyna got its model, Dyna-1, to a 99.4% success rate folding restaurant napkins for 24 hours straight, including recovering after it pulled over the whole stack. The key is a reward model that watches the robot and scores its progress. When the score dips, the robot is making a mistake, so the team can collect targeted recovery data and fine-tune again in a human-in-the-loop active-learning cycle. Ma also covers Dyna's pre-training data pyramid of more than 200,000 hours, and its architecture that pairs a reasoning model with a world action model. He shows deployments in restaurants and a Sacramento laundromat, and a robot folding T-shirts for three days straight at CoRL in Korea with no site-specific data.

When COVID-19 emerged, scientists had a crucial advantage: Decades of prior research on coronaviruses meant they understood the virus’ key proteins well enough to design vaccines in record time. The next pandemic may not offer the same head start. To help improve the odds, NVIDIA has joined a coalition of global research organizations, including Google DeepMind and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), to release predicted 3D structures for the protein complexes of more than 2,800 viruses — openly available to any scientist, anywhere, through the AlphaFold Database. The structures in the newly released dataset were inferred using AlphaFold2 — Google DeepMind’s AI model for predicting how proteins fold into 3D shapes — with optimization from NVIDIA BioNeMo Inference Runtime. This allowed the team to scale inference to thousands of viral proteomes, predicting the complexes, or groups of interacting proteins, encoded within each virus. “Our ambition with the AlphaFold Database has always been to democratize access to foundational biology at scale,” said Risha Patel, life sciences partnerships manager at Google DeepMind.
